Zaca Lake Facts:
Zaca Lake is a year-round
personal and group retreat facility. Located in the San
Rafael Mountains, at an elevation of 2,300 feet, Zaca
Lake is Southern Californias largest naturally
occurring lake. Zaca Lake offers thousands of vertical
feet of hiking trail winding for miles around five peaks
above the lake. Zaca Peak, the tallest at 4,341 feet,
stands over two unnamed crests of 3,868 feet and 3,668
feet, plus Wild Horse Mountains 3,659 feet and
Lookout Mountains 3,490 feet. Zaca Lake is 46 feet
at its deepest, with a mean depth of 31.4 feet, and purportedly
has a "bottomless" underwater crevice, which
once was found un-measurable with 1,000 feet of line
and a weight.
